Thumbs up New to the G35, and the G35 Driver community

Hey everyone, just bought my G35 in May.
It's a 2004 6MT coupe.
It's got lots of upgraded goodies in the interior but the suspension is stock and the engine's only mod is a Z-tube with an Apexi panel filter.

I like it, it feels a bit loose in the steering, but it works. I bought this as a replacement car for my RX-8, which was totaled in a collision, and it's taken some getting used to. I really enjoy the power, but the soft suspension and less lively feel isn't so great. Not to mention the heavy feeling, but it's a great car, and I think it looks gorgeous.

While I'm still debating whether or not I'm going to keep it, I'll still try and see what all I can build from this car, and where I can go.

Attached is my 04 G35, and my wife's 03 350z.

I'm located in Oceanside, CA. Currently living in Pendleton, so I'm sure I've seen some of you around.

Thanks. It's got the Nismo diffuser on the *** as well.
It's done some work for me up in GMR with my car club, as well as Palomar, and it's pretty fast for its size/weight.

Have your front bushings get a look over. They wear out. Search for compression rod bushing, the rear side bushing up front, and "lower control arm" but the correct term is transverse link per the FSM. Both wear after 40-60k usually. That tightens up the steering if worn.

The floaty-ness? I don't think mine is floaty, but was equipped with sport. I replaced the OEM dampers with KYB @ 90k (cheap but effective) and maybe lost some harshness. I think when pushed it definitely has some lean - new/bigger anti-roll bars fix that, but make sure you get a nice set.

Other things are very noticeable: bad radio, power window motors, and lock motors. The rest is minor ****: axle click... other is usually maintenance junk. Follow the manual and you will be ok.

I'm thinking it's not stiff enough. It's too much luxury grandpa, and not enough sport, which I understand is the reason for this car, but I expected a bit more.
I plan on doing a full suspension overhaul.

Thanks for the welcoming committee, everyone. Looking into regional meets, and maybe see what other drivers' cars look and feel like.

Not really. I only like FLCL, and I occasionally watch Initial D. I used to back in high school so I generally know what people are talking about when it comes up. I'm really into Batman Beyond, but that's it as far as toons and anime.
Although, you're probably referring to Desert Punk? I watched the first episode a few years back, liked the name.
