New Member, about to buy

Hey guys,
New to the forum and in the works of purchasing a G35 locally. I wanted to get some advice before preceding any further, and normally places like this are a great place for advice.

http://charleston.craigslist.org/cto/4130904812.html

That is what I am looking into purchasing and wanted some input and anything I should be worried about or look for. Any and all input is appreciated.

Thanks,
Matt

First off, "low miles" is very subjective on a 10 year old car. Does that mean 20k or 100k miles? Really the car is only worth about 10k-12k depending on milage and current care.

Is the car in the picture really the car? Looks like the car has some volk gts knockoffs, but doesnt mention wheels at all in the listing. Also one picture has 04 headlights and one picture has 06 headlights. Could be the pic, but looks Obsidian Black and not Twilight Blue (not midnight blue). Alot of things do not add up.

So either the poster is lying or just really lazy about providing information on the car.

Sorry, I didn't notice that the milage was not in the post, it has 86000. As for the rims, I also meant to post that it now has the factory rims on it. The headlights I did not notice in the photos, and unfortunately I am not that informed on headlights so I don't really know, I am pretty sure that are the factory that came with the car.

I did go to see the car yesterday and it is in good shape except for the rims, went for a ride in it as well and everything seemed ok

I did tell him that most thing I had seen were closer to 12k.

Each picture has a different headlight, both are factory.

First picture is 04 halogen lights, second picture is 06 projector lights. 06 headlights are much better and a very popular upgrade.

I would say 12k is on the high end of the spectrum. Personally I'd offer 10k and try to settle on 11k.

Most common issues are torn seats near recline level, failed window motors, failed seat motors, hood hinges bowing, door lock actuators failing, door handles wear easily, stereo unit failing. You should probably do a search and read all the TSB posted.

just search G35 on youtube, there's a ton of "common issue" videos there. I would be in the 9500-10500 range for this car though. 14k is the "carmax" overprice. also this site has a VIN decoder which i found extremely helpful in knowing what I was dealing with when I bought mine a few weeks ago.

I bought my G used at a dealer. I probably paid a premium for that, but dealer's won't sell you trash like a craigslister. I've never had one problem with the car. Something to consider.

HAHAHAHAHAHA A dealer will bend you over and give it to your raw more than any craigslister. I private party is alot more likely to tell the truth opposed to a salesman who get paid to lie for a living.

Facts don't lie. Zero problems. Good luck with your CL purchase, OP.

+1 and you'll over pay. or you can add their "warranty" and add 1-2k more to the purchase price. I had a really good experience with a small dealer here. I basically told him I had 10k if he accepted that then i'd test drive the car and we shook on it. I did that with other private party and big dealerships and was basically told to get lost so I guess I might have gotten lucky, or maybe there are some good salesman out there...

I never said facts lie, I said dealers lie. Please re-read. Salesmen get paid off commission, not truthfulness.

I did have another question about this year. This one has all the options basically except for in dash nav, it has leather seats, sun roof, power everything. For the suspension, brakes, etc. is there a sports package of some sort offered this year, outside of the Brembo brakes what difference could there be? I'm just trying to see how he would justify this price and wanted to make sure that I have all of my facts straight before I begin to negotiate on price.
