First time G owner in TX
First time G owner in TX
Hey everyone. Just picked up my first G this week. Coming from a long streak of Acuras and Hondas, figured it's time for something a little more fun. Anyways it's a 2006 6MT coupe, 50k miles, black on black, premium package, sport suspension package w/ rear active steer, aero kit, and navigation package. It took me quite a while to find the combination I was looking for. Stock except for emblem delete on the back and black front side markers. First things on my list are to get passed inspection with the window tint, and some upgrades for the audio system. Any suggestions for maintenance items to check right off the bat?
If you don't have a service record, or can't locate one via vin, I suggest you start with the fluids. All of them according to the owner's manual. I had my G checked by the dealer that has serviced it for the last five years. Everything is on record and I deal with it as it arrises. I also often bring my own parts, oil, etc with me. I just like to have an Infiniti tech work on my car. I've never been ripped off and I'm treated fine by the dealer. I often buy on line although the fall in the Beaver buck might change that. I have found my sources for parts on this forum. I buy oil at Canadian Tire, $35 for 5 litres of Penzoil Platinum, which I have no issues with and have been using for awhile. I don't mod my G, only my BlackBird. I have 145,000 kms since "03" and 42,000 kms in the last 5 years. I ride more than I drive. It's an excellent family car and I'll drive it till it "dies". All this is my experience. It's going in this week for oil. I've only driven 5,000 kms since June, '12. I have the oil, air cleaner and cabin filter. I will use oem oil filter. Good Luck, these cars last a long time with decent maintenance.
Welcome to Driver tym1200! Beautiful low mileage OB (black) coupe, great find! If you bought your coupe from a private party ask them about how/with what it's been serviced. Infiniti may have some record of how it's been serviced. You must have a favorite mechanic, have him check all the fluids along with brakes and suspension. Now would be a perfect time to switch to a quality synthetic like AMSOIL! Texas has a great Infiniti support group depending on your location. Enjoy the ride...Gary
