Hello

Hi i just finally bought a G35. I have been wanting one for years and years and now that i moved to Hawaii i figured with the high gas prices and traffic why not pick up a manual car that takes premium gas.

I have noticed the compression rod bushings are bad, and the clutch seems to make some noise when it is out. Whenever you push the clutch in the noise goes away. Its not too noticeable but i was wondering if anyone has experienced this? Pilot bearing, throwout bearing, typical noise for this car? It has 70k miles, so i will replace the clutch sometime this year anyways.

Also where can i find a good quality seat belt pad, not one that says Infiniti or Nismo.. think that is a bit redundant.

Hi Beeef, Welcome to Driver! Normally no one buys a G35 because of better gas mileage manual or AT. With 70k miles on your G the compression rod bushing have been bad for a long time. Best advice, replace them with OE parts. What you're hearing from your MT is the throw out bearing. They get old and dry, start making noise and will eventually freeze up. That's something I'd have replaced if you have the $$ to do so! Good Luck & enjoy Hawaii!

Thanks.

Oh no i was kidding lol. I meant because of our MPG/higher octane fuel (its like $4.20 a gallon here in Hawaii) and the fact that i work in one of the most congested cities in America (and we have a manual) i decided to buy the car now. Always wanted one, so who cares.

How quickly do the compression rod bushing usually go bad and go OEM? I saw there was a solid aftermarket upgrade but that seems like it would make the ride considerably worse. Ill replace the clutch sometime this year, how bad is it removing the trans? Just did one in the Jeep what a nightmare it is getting down a huge trans with a transfer case attached by yourself lol.

Its not easy, but its not hard. Replacing the CR Bushings is as simple as jacking up the front of the car, removing the Compression rods, then going to a shop that has a press capable of pushing out old bearings and in new ones. Im about to jump on this deal because mine have broken
