New G35 owner! :)
New G35 owner! :)
So! Just bought an 04 6MT G35 with ~108k on it(I forget exactly how much) for $7750. It's not fully loaded, but it has most of the amenities. Bought it from my uncle, who's owned Datsuns and Nissans his whole life. He loves cars, and he didn't want to see this one go, so he sold it to me, because he knows how much I love cars, and how well I'll be treating this one. It's a 6-speed, and with his family not too big into manual transmissions, he just needed to sell it for convenience sake. He bought another one, automatic that is, to make up for it. I've been having a blast driving this car! Compared to my previous two cars, it's about 20 steps up from them. My first car was a 1998 Mazda Protege bought with 204k on the clock, sold it a year later with 214k on it. Then my other car was a 1996 Toyota Paseo. Oh that car was a nice little car. I bought it with 105k on the clock for $700!! Sold it a year later(which was three weeks ago) for $1300 with ~122k on it. I put a lot of time and money into that car. About $2000 worth of new parts were on that car when I sold it. Wheel bearings, Struts, Brakes all around. Front rotors, back passeneger spindle, water pump. It's going to be a good car to the guy I sold it too, and I wish him luck. I still have his number, and I plan to follow-up, and see how he thinks of it.
Anyway! I digress.... My G35! It's beautiful in every way but two! 1. The damn clutch. I recieved an RJM Performance clutch pedal assembly and I'm having it put in shortly, long story about that, but I'll mention it later. 2. The gas mileage. I fill up usually at half tank, not much less. My mileage so far over the 5 fill ups were as follows: 20.6, 20.5, 20.4, 19.4, 20.8. Not too great compared to 30+ in my old Toyota, but then again, I enjoy driving this car, and the extra money to put 93 in it, and the worse mileage. it's worth it.... So! The clutch pedal I bought! I took it to the shop today, and they said it'd be like a 3 hour job.... Bull. I've read a good 50 reviews of people putting this in their cars, and it taking less than an hour. And in an extreme, casual, and with a very slightly mechanically inclined person, it still took less than 3hrs for them. Their reasoning is that they said they NEEDED to bleed the clutch system because of all of the playing around with the master cylinder. And in those 50 review, never did I ever hear anything at all about bleeding the clutch system, or if there was mention of it, it was because they replaced the clutch/clutch lines or just needed to replace the clutch fluid. Ehh, I'll find someone/somewhere to do it. I would, because I'm sort of mechanically inclined, and I have access to the tools, I just really don't want to royally mess something up, especially in my new car. On a side note, Infiniti reeeeaaaaaally messed up with that clutch pedal design. Like REALLY messed up.... It's ridiculous! I'm quite good at driving stick, that's all I've ever driven! I mean, I'm only 18, but still. My other cars, smooth-as-butter heel-toeing, rev-matching, downshifting, and 1-2 shifts, especially. I have trouble with all of that with the G! Don't get me wrong, it's fun to drive, but it'll be 100000 times better with this clutch pedal, I hope. And for those of you who are scoffing at me for being 18 with a car this hot, and "fancy" for lack of a better term, I'm not the typical 18 year old reckless a-hole. I promise. This car will be my life, and I plan to keep it BONE STOCK, except MAYBE a cold air intake. Maybe... Well! There, now that you all know my life story about cars and such, I hope to make a few aquaintences here, and learn about the G from people who have owned them for a while. Again, thanks for reading this overly lengthy post.

Welcome to Driver, very nice sedan! Hope you enjoy the new clutch pedal assembly once installed! You know no two clutches feel the same, you can have two identical cars and the clutches will feel/shift totally different. Enjoy the ride!

So, I got the clutch installed earlier. I just had my brother in law do it, he's been working on cars since he was 14, 30 years later, he knows a thing or two. It's pretty good. Not as heavy, I have to adjust it to my liking, but I feel like it's well worth the money. I just COULD NOT stand that other clutch feel.... Thanks all, for being very welcoming!
