My head unit and A/C controller died. I was driving around with my A/C stuck on at 65 degrees and I could only control my radio at the steering wheel. Not to mention my CD player died a few years ago. I bought the JDM double DIN kit from Grubbs Infiniti, a fairly inexpensive Sony head unit, and all the Metra wiring harnesses. Did the conversion with the help from my brother in about five hours. Now I have Blue Tooth and can stream Pandora from my Android phone. Plus I can answer and make calls from the head unit. It's freakin' awesome.

Not a bad legacy to have.

 

I'm in the same boat except my AC is working, everything else is just as you described.
I'm going to attempt to install a very nice Android unit instead so I'll have a full Android capabilities in my HU as well.
Got to set out on a hunt for double din and wire harnesses.

I recommend using the JDM double din trim piece. While researching I read some bad reviews of the Metra kit. I bought mine from Grubbs Infiniti.

Is the only thing you lose with the DD kit is dual AC?

 

Depends on your year. JDM 03-04 models didnt have dual AC so you have to do a slight modification to get it. 05-07 JDM double dins came factory with dual AC added.

Dual anything is all a conspiracy. It's not like the G is 40 foot wide and you can truly have a dual climate zone.
