Chris. What's up guys? I've been snooping on here for some time now and have found tons of great info and everyone seems to be somewhat friendly. Anyway about me, 22, male, Arizona, mechanic, (Insert Social Security Number), (Mother's Maiden Name), 05' G35 IP coupe 6mt sport pkg. Not new to the forums so don't worry I won't be a pain in the ***.

This is my first G. Love it to death so far, i have several ideas in mind as to what I want to accomplish with this car but that all will come with time and patience. Currently getting a new clutch/fw replacement which should arrive in a day or two and hopefully driving again by this weekend.

Hope to meet some of the locals in the future, nothing but positive vibes and chill times with me.

 

Ah, you lucked out by getting the second gen headlights. Nice find!

 

What exactly is different from these headlights? Aren't all 03-05 headlights the same? Only thing I can think of is the 06+ headlights had projectors, removed clearance strip, and clear reflectors instead of amber.

 

Correct, but those are huge changes. Also the chrome is "more chrome" than the 1st gen.

Projector vs reflector is night and day difference tho. Like "holy crap!"

I wish they had left the clearance strip cuz I like the look, but they turn yellow under the lens so they look like crap once that start happening.

And the blinker is much less "hey I'm an out of place orange spot!". I'd love a clean set of 04s retrofitted with projectors and with a clear blinker lens and clear light strip, but they're expensive af for a light that's just a little cooler than the 06.

 

I see. I would love to pick up a set of 06+ headlights/tails but unfortunately you're right they're a pretty penny. And yes the difference is incredible. Who knows I may even just mod my own and swap in projectors and do the iron man led mod which I think looks awesome.

 

Wait, yours aren't 06s? The chrome looks like 06s from the side. You have 06/7 tails too.

 

Oh no no, i wish. It's an 05'. That's why I was a little confused about you saying they're the 2nd gens lol no worries.

 

I know the car is an 05, but the later heads/tails are saught after. Someone put later lights on your car. Those are fully 06+ tails, and I'm pretty sure those are 06 heads, but its hard to tell from the angle of your pic. The chrome looks 06 tho.

They're in really nice condition then. Mine looked nothing like that and his chrome almost matches the he IP like my 06s. These pics are fuxkin with my eyes! Haha

Hi Chris! Very nice IP coupe, excellent find! There's a major difference between the first gen headlights and the '06+ projectors, you can see where you're going at night. After mine were installed driving down my street I wondered if my neighbors minded the extra glare. lol To me installing the projectors is the one, single most important "Upgrade" we can make! Look for someone selling a set on our Marketplace under private classified. Cost should be half of retail which is currently $900=
