New G35 Owner from sunny Florida
New G35 Owner from sunny Florida
Hello guys, just dropping by to make my official intro. Proud owner of a 6spd 05 Coupe in gray with Black on black interior. Glad to be here. The site has been very helpful so far.
A little background why I got this car: Back in 2006 a buddy of mine bought a brand new G35 coupe with the 6spd and pop-up Nav. He let me drive it a few times and I immediately fell in love. Unfortunately back then I was in debt and didn't make good money, so I couldn't afford to buy a newer G35. I primarily drove Honda Accords and Toyota's, a few of which are manual tranny so I had to have the 6spd G35.
Fast forward to about a month ago and I was finally able to buy the G35 after searching a few months for the 6MT Coupe with all the options except intelligent key. Bought the car with 116k miles on the odo at a small dealership. I knew from inspecting the car that it wasn't in perfect condition. There were a few noticeable things that didn't work, and also some indication it was in a previous accident. Got a decent price on it, so I bought the car anyways since it drove well although I knew going into it that I will have to do some repairs/maintenance.
Some things that didn't work or needs fixing:
- Nav screen comes up but does not work, so it goes back down. ( Screen is blank). CD player also doesn't work. But I Already bought an OEM replacement for $300 from Ebay ( the Infiniti dealer was asking like $2k for a new one!). Getting installed soon.
- The car came with aftermarket headlights. Its the one with leds, double halo's, and projector low beams. But the headlights are not aligned at all; the lowbeams point straight down and needs adjustment. High beams aren't bad so I just run with the high beams at night.
- Some minor interior wear. Couple of small cracks on the dash, and the driver seat is torn on the corner which I read is typical.
- Front suspension creaked and made some noises. Took it to the dealer to get new bushings etc ($800!). Still have some minor creaking which the dealer said are the top bushings on the front suspension (another $400+ to replace).
- Brake booster was acting up and had to be replaced (another $900)
I think thats it so far. I love the car and how it looks drives, but like many others said, one thing after another breaks on it. You have to stay on top of the maintenance/repairs, and everything is pricey compared to a Honda or Toyota. But overall I'm glad I got the car. I even added an extended warranty which covers another 100k miles and 36months.
Here are some pics. Basically fully stock for now except headlights:

Missing the small rectangular piece on the front bumper. Does anyone know where to buy it?

That's a beautiful coupe Justice! I just picked mine up last Saturday, its an 04 4-door withthe automatic 5A. This car surprises me how damn quick it is and I cant imagine how fast a 6 speed coupe must be. BTW-its not so sunny in Tampa today. I hope you have great luck with your purchase and a blessed holiday season.
Are you kidding?
The headlights look pretty good. Its not to ricey or anything IMO. It sets my car apart from all the other G35's I've seen out there. The halo's look great, and the led strip doesn't look cheap at all.
The only thing I'll probably do to this car for now is buy some aftermarket rims.

Yea these cars are pretty quick. I have not even gone past 5k RPM's yet

FL weather is pretty rainy right now, but Thanksgiving weekend looks promising with sunny skies and 60degree weather.
Have a good holiday and thanksgiving to you too.
