oh look another new guy

Hi I'm Mike.

Picked up an 03 G Sedan a couple months ago, been trolling the forums here planning mods. I'm an old guy now (35) with 2 kids so I can't do anything crazy, I like to subscribe to the "OEM Upgrade" type of thing now.

Crappy nighttime camera pic, as if nobody has ever seen a black G sedan before:

It's in pretty good shape, recently repainted (was green, full color change to black by previous owner). Only 97K miles on it, 5AT.

anyway, yeah. Hi.

What are your OEM+ plans? I subscribe to the same philosophy.

Been trying to brainstorm, and this is kind of my rough draft list:

Exterior
- N1 style front lip / M3 style spoiler
- OEM sport style side skirts. Nothing flashy just not the plastic thats there now.
- G37 or M35/45 wheels. I love the look of both, and I'm weird so staggered sizes annoy me so I'd lean toward the M35/45 19s if I could.
- Maybe the newer tail lights

Performance
- RevUP airbox / Ztube / K&N drop in
- Motordyne plenum spacer
- Coupe midpipe / Z HR Y-pipe

Interior
- Double DIN swap
- Seat warmers (don't have them factory)

That's.. basically it. I have an amp, a decent set of Morel component speakers, and a sub that I might toss in eventually.

At almost 100K miles the brakes are starting to get a little bit of vibration when I'm slowing down from freeway speeds, so I'm guessing that the rotors need to be replaced. I will probably do the 06+ brakes for a "factory" big brake upgrade, that's honestly one of the first things I'll do, and then probably the rest of the suspension stuff.

Very nice, man. Looks like you've done yer homework. You should definitely pick up the OEM Brembos. They would look great on your sedan. Maybe look into some retrofitted projectors as well. They can really transform the car. Also, with those early sedans, I (personally) feel like they look best with the OEM sedan spoiler.

Any plans on lowering? Just enough to close the wheel gap anyhow..?

The G/Z springs will lower it a bit, right?

Which brakes are the OEM brembos? That's just the newer years, right?

G Coupe springs and Z springs will both lower it a bit, yeah. The OEM brembos only came on the 03/4 sport coupes. You'll find em for sale here and on my350z.com. that's probably the cheapest for which you'll find some good looking brakes.

Well the brembos are obviously gonna be better when it comes to fade, but being that you aren't tracking your car, you probably wouldn't notice. Looks-wise tho, the brembos are purty. Some later models had akebono BBKs and those look great too. You can find those for a decent price too.

Too blingy

I had planned on basically following this "stock upgrade" to 06 brakes.

06's are 2 pistons vs 03 single piston + smaller rotors. Brembo are 4 piston and even larger rotors. the dual piston upgrade is plenty for a daily drive, you wouldn't even be able to tell the difference between those and the Brembo's.
You should add a tune to your list of performance upgrades, makes a bigger difference than all the other things listed combined,
