Hello everyone! I own a 06 Infiniti G35 that I purchased almost a year ago. The first day I bought it I started hearing a ticking noise. Turned out the owner before me did an oil change before the sale but neglected to screw the oil cap back on. $3000 later and a timing chain later my car is running like a champ. Will be posting pictures soon and maybe a build thread

@hogbone, It was running fine when I first test drove it and yes I did look under the hood. The engine was running fine and the cap was on it. When we met at BECU to get all the paper work in check I did not look under the hood but it still sounded fine. I was playing with the throttle the whole way home and when I finally did get home I heard the timing chain slapping. Popped the hood and found the oil cap sitting on the radiator. The previous owner must have given it an oil change before the sale and forgotten to screw the cap back on. Lesson learned: make sure everything is in check before the final sale.
