new to me G35!

Hellllo, just picked up a 2005 G35 6MT Sedan!

200,000KM on the ODO, great shape except for a few small things

1) needs a new clutch and possibly master / slave
2) needs what I believe are compression rods
3) needs new summer tires as seen in the pictures, it's still sitting on winters(Summers going on late this week /early next week on the original 18" rims)

Plans are:

Fix clutch, and compression rods
Z-Tube & K&N drop in

Replace factory Bose system (or at least the speakers).

I live in the great state of Canada :P around the Greater Toronto Area

Compression rods are probably ok, most likley you just need to replace the bushings.

In general for the items on your list, youre looking at about 2k in maintenance.

Welcome

Thanks for the info, as for the clutch, It should be around $800 in labour + partsI(quoted)
Tires are $680 installed roughly, so the other parts, I'm not 100% sure yet

You say it's not the rods? the clunking sound going over bumps, but just the bushings?

Also, every where I have looked, people said replace the whole arm, it's easier / less work / labour than replacing just the bushing.

One more question regarding that, are compression rods the lower control arm? Rock Auto shows only lower control arm / compression arm.

Have a mechanic check it, buy yes the clunking sound is normally caused by bad bushings. A $30 part. You would have had to hit a rock or something to damage the rod itself.

There's 2 mechanics at this shop. Both ex-Infiniti dealer mechanics and good friends of mine. You won't be disappointed if you decide to go with them.
I'll send you a pm shortly

Welcome.

What happend to your rims? Did it come that way?

As far as the suspension, my 05 coupe needed to be replaced as well after I bought mine since I had the clicking sound every time I hit bumps. Apparently most shops/dealers won't just replace the bushing and recommend you replace the entire control arms. For the front, there are 2 sets: one upper and one lower control arm for each side. I did mine separately (upper arms first, then lower arms later on). Since I got them done at a shop, I paid around $700USD for each set--a little pricey if you don't have the skills or tools to do them yourself.

These are winter rims+tires, new summer tires going on the original rims tomorrow or Monday, already ordered.

Its not the control arm from what I understand, its the compression arm / rod. (Or am I wrong?)
