03 G35 sedan Wont stay running

So today while I was on my way back home, I heard an odd noise coming from my engine compartment, also noticed that the performance wasn't as good as it normal is. So naturally I pulled off to the shoulder and figured it had over-heated or something, but it did not start again, just sounded like a dead battery. So i checked the oil and coolant, all was good. Called a buddy to jump it and it tried, but didn't start. then tried again a few minutes later, started but i had to keep revving it.
I had it towed home, and am going to let it sit overnight. Does anyone know of like a safe mode it might have gone into, because im clueless and really dont want to replace the whole engine. Thanks

Finally got the code read (P0011) passenger side cam pos sensor. Replaced that, got it to start But now there is wispy white smoke coming from exhaust and the rpms fluctuate anywhere between 600 and 1000 idle.
When it got up to operating temp, he was a ticking noise from the engine then engine stalled, probably from idling too low.
Anyone have any clue what could be wrong?
