I have a 2004 g35 coupe and I was under my car about to install an exhaust and noticed fluid leaking out of my rear diff
. Does anyone know how I'd fix this or if it's even possible to do myself? Also, is it a big deal?
Could be the mounts leaking down, the seals between the driveshaft and/or axles, or the RTV or gasket behind the cover failed.
I'd scrape some off with your hand and take a whiff, lol. If it smells extremely terrible then it's gear oil and treat it like an oil leak. Top it off with 75W-90 I'm not sure if you have VLSD, but you'd want fluid designed for that.
Depending what is leaking you might be able to do it yourself. Some people take the diff out and swap them with the one from an MT. If it's the top mount or the gasket/RTV then I guess you'd have to take it out of the car. The seals between the axle and driveshaft can probably be replaced will still attached.
