Just picked this up

Hello everyone! I live in the Knoxville TN area, wouldn't mind meeting some other owners in the area sometime.

Bought this 04 G35 the other day for 8K

The Good: It only has 61K on the clock. Runs perfect, faster than I thought it would be. It drives great and trans shifts perfect.

The Bad: looks like it had hail damage or angry GF mod. Car fax was clean but the body work is sub-par to say the least.

The bad body work doesn't bother me too bad because this car will be my daily driver. I already have too much money tied up in a 3000GT I went crazy with. It's just not a DD anymore, it's more because racecar.

I can post a link to build thread if anyone is interested and if it's allowed.

Anyway right now I'm just interested in keeping the G35 maintained and fun. I might do the Brembo conversion because I'm hard on brakes. I go to the tail of the dragon at least once a year. I do road courses but I'll probably keep bringing the 3K for that.

Look forward to learning more about this car.

The 300GT looks good. How much have you spent on it?

Thanks, I really don't want to know.

Even much has been done since those links. Stalled lately though. I'll get back on it later, only thing wrong is a small hole in the radiator.

I'm more interested in certain maintenance in this new G35.

You don't necessarily need Brembos, you just need good pads. A good pad goes a long way, compared to $1200 in brake calipers.

Hell yeah a new member who's a true enthusiast!! Welcome senor lantern to our little dysfunctional family. New coupe looks clean, lower mileage G's are getting harder and harder to find these days. Since you're a forum vet just read your *** off here, we're probably the premiere site for all things G on the internet. If you can't find something you're looking for then start a new thread in the appropriate sub-forum and we'll help out. And please don't ask 'what's the best intake' or 'help me choose wheels' or you're likely to get banned in a New York minute lol.

I understand the mod addiction, still have my G after almost 9 years and untold dollars down the tubes and bought an 06 GTO last year with 27.1 miles as a second vehicle. She's still stock and will stay that way for a loooong time! Love the 3000, solid work you've done there.............

Yeah I'm not going to do it until I see what these will put up with. I'll be taking the car to the dragon later in 2017. If they hold up there I don't need an upgrade. I overheated the brakes two years in a row on the 3000 so I went to a BBK. No problems since.

Thanks! The car is pretty clean but it pisses me off when I look at some of the crappy bodywork. I guess I wont have to worry about keeping it fresh as much though. I'd park in the back of parking lots in the 3000 but it didn't matter because people would park next to it anyway lol.

I won't be asking about intakes, I'd more likely ask "help me pick out a turbo"
MUST......NOT.......MOD......CAR

I might mod the stereo but I got to try and keep this car reliable and comfy to drive. I'm really liking this car so far.

Modifying the stereo is going to cost more then you hope for, so if you are being budget conscious I would just get the phone connector to get phone charging and sound.

What one are you talking about? The main thing I want to do is hook my Iphone 6 to it. I read the thread here many times and there's so many choices I'm a bit confused lol. Being able to use the factory stereo controls to change songs would be great but not a big deal. If you could recommend one that would be great.

Thanks

TBH I'm not certain as I went the Ddin route, but I think researching on the nico club website would help you too.

Yeah, he's talking if you want a double din setup. I did a complete conversion for probably as cheap as possible and it still cost me about $1300. The only way you could do it cheaper is if you got the metra kit and went with a single din **** stereo. I did it as cheap as possible with using the JDM kit and having a 7" screen (appradio 3); metra is very much frowned upon. Must JDM.
