Greetings from South Carolina

Hello,

While not a G35 owner today, hope to be by this weekend. I found a nice 06 Auto with 115k miles. Car fax shows complete maint history from the dealer. 2 owner car (Owners knew each other). The only issue is in 08 shows structure damage reported by owner. The thing is its still a clean title and the current owner says nothing wrong and he has had this car since 08. The only real issue is a small crack on the lower dash right next to the gauge cluster. I think here I can maybe cover it up, but its not a big deal. He is asking $4900.

While new to the G35, I have owned a 03 Maxima 6MT many years ago.

This will be used as a commuter vehicle with about 30k miles per year. Anyways, I think we can get price down to 4500 and have a nice ride. Hoping to get some feedback from others on this.

Check fitment gap along all body lines on the exterior, that's the easiest way to spot any structural damage that was significant. It's INCREDIBLY hard to make the gap the same (along the entire line as well as matching the opposite side) if the vehicle had any significant damage. Also look under the vehicle with a flashlight and check for obvious damage as well as engine compartment, trunk, and check for removed fasteners (paint will usually be chipped off of removed fasteners).

If you feel the owner is being facetious about it then just bail and take your chances elsewhere. Given the timeframe, damage reported in '08, second owner purchased in '08 it's likely he purchased it after it was damaged, since he knows the previous owner see if he can contact and find out the extent of the damage.

If none of that is possible then see if he has recent alignment records (work at dealership will have record) and make sure they were able to pull the alignment back into OEM spec recently and you will be able to tell the rest from a good road test of the vehicle. If it pops/clicks/shudders/wiggles/etc then steer clear, otherwise pull the trigger and buy it if it has all the options you were looking for.

Thank you for the feedback. The carfax shows all maint done at dealer with many 4 wheel alignments during the years. Tires are a year old so will look at how the wear is. Looking forward to checking it out and hopeful can be new owner vs prospective owner.

Well, I brought the G35 home this Saturday. Got an good deal and the car is in real great shape for the age/miles. Found out the PO installed the 350Z Y pipe, gives it a nice tone.

So this coming weekend I got a list of fluids to change. I did hear a groan from the rear end. I even coasted with the engine off on a side road to confirm that the rear wheel bearings need replacing. I already have seen some great write-ups on here on the process and will get that done.

lol those aren't Rays, they're the sedan 18's. Even though they look a lot alike the Rays are forged and the sedan wheels are not.

OP nice looking ride and welcome to our little dysfunctional family.

Not sure if the car had a crash like accident but its very clean. Got a good deal and knew what I was getting.

Yesterday I got the maintenance done. Spark plugs, belts, oil and some fun time replacing both rear bearings. That was not too bad but both were shot. The car has the 350z Y pipe and the Z tube. I did rip a rubber boot connecting the pvc into the airbox, but found a Dorman boot at advance. While one side is smaller, with some swearing, got it on and back in. Changed the rear diff fluid also. Next is to clean the headlights and do a fluid change on the tranny.
Took the car out for a nice driver and it handles great with lots of power and nice tone.

Have done lots of reading here on doing few things like adding bluetooth and I need to fix the crack on the dash. Since the crack is on the lower part right above the silver trim, was looking at some of the carbon fiber vinyl on ebay to run a 2 inch strip across the length of dash.
