New G Owner

04 g35 sedan. 178K.

My first V6 and rwd car. So rain and snow will be new all over again.

I was driving a fwd 4 cylinders, but I am starting to like this V6.

Engine leaking oil around transmission and engine. Will get that fix. Anyone have any recommendations for lower control arms?

thx.

Get it hosed off properly and identify the leaking component, as the the LCA, unless they are bent or something just have new bushings pressed in.

Also discovered both front lower ball joints boots are cracked, Probably the original. Even passenger outer tie rod too. To my surprise, also found out I have the sports package. I saw the red shocks but not sure how much life left in them.

Biggest problem is the oil pan. There is a rusted patch chipping away. Just a gentle press, and pieces started falling off. This one is making me real nervous.

I think I can do the whole job. Anyone recommend a brand for the ball joints? I think I might go with Moog for tie rods, and control arms.

Do you guys do rtv gasket or oil pan gaskets?

For any of the suspension components just stick with a name you recognize, no major difference from one brand to the next. The lower section of the oil pan is replaceable and under $50 on the internet, get the gasket for it, easier than RTV, your upper oil pan section is probably fine (aluminum) and that is the expensive part of the oil pan.

Thanks. Seems Rockauto offers better pricing on parts than Amazon even though it will be a bit slow delivery.

well worked on my car this holiday and was able to remove the tie rods, LCAs, and both ball joints easily.

But then I got stuck on the aftermarket ball joint from mavotech. It wouldn't go in at all. I thought it was crooked so I removed it and noticed the teeth dig into the hole. I hope it didn't screw it up.

I noticed the old ball joints didn't have any teeth, just a smooth round surface. it looks like it dig around .3 cm into the knuckle

Also, discovered Infiniti doses't sell the ball joints individually. Wow need to buy the whole knuckle ??? That is crazy.

bought the Duralast Ball Joint from auto zone after reading successful reviews.

I've used infinitipartsonline before. Actual dealer with a web store, quick and easy, if you have any questions just call them, super helpful.
