Hi everyone, new to the forum first post.
I finally bought a JDM Skyline coupe after saving all year.
We have had a Nissan Maxima for the last 12 years, putting 120k on it since we bought it from Henry Ford (really that was his name),
when it had only done 100k at that time.
Always was impressed with the VQ engines, and we didn't need a four door sedan anymore, and you only live once right?
Bought this car from a dealer in Sydney who shipped it across Australia to us here in Perth.
Only mods are the wheels and tyres, which must have been fitted by the last owner in Japan in 2013 (still have 80% tread),
9" rims front with 245/40x 18, 10"rear with 275/40x 18, Nankang rubber, if anyone knows the brand of these 2 piece rims, I would like to know.
and a Carrozzaria head unit fitted in 2014. Its a JDM head unit made by Pioneer, *** language only, but easy as to set up USB in, Bluetooth, and radio.
All the best from down under.
Essentially this is what Nissan sell in Japan.
No Infinity G35s ever sold in Japan, only Skyline V35 or 350GT as it is badged.
Think Toyota<Lexus
same as Nissan<Infinity
The Japs just rebadged their Nissans as an upmarket car, Infinity.
So here in Australia we can import these cars now privately from the land of the rising sun.
I probably debadge it at least the boot badges and list them online for anyone that wants their Infinity to get that JDM look.
Japan doesn't sell anything as infiniti. They just started the luxury line in the U.S. because they saw other competitors doing the same like toyota>lexus. When nissans first came to the U.S. they were under the name datsun. At least you have an authentic skyline. I hate when people try to make their infiniti look like a skyline. I hope you're not going to make your skyline look like an infiniti, cause that would be a first

Curious, why is that such a bad thing? I've heard half say its unique and what it is in japan, I've heard the rest say its rice status. Then you have alot of retailers selling the hell out of badges. Whats the deal?
I wouldn't throw any Skyline badges or anything on my Infiniti, the farthest I'll go is my custom license plate 5KYL1N3
OP congrats on the new car, looks really clean! Do you have any plans for upgrades or mods? I want to see a close up shot of those wheels they look pretty sweet in those photos.
I have seen some "Infinities" in Oz, which people either here or in Japan have rebadged from Nissan, because I know no right hand drives Infinities exist, unless you talk about the new Infinity brand, upmarket Nisan, which hasnt done very well here at all.
Nissan was called Datsun here in Australia years ago too, I think it was a name change in Japan as well.
I will try get a better shot of a wheel, wouldn't mid knowing something about them, but my friend who sells tyres said they are expensive, and look good..
No plans for upgrades, don't want to lower the car as its low enough now with just these wheels, but when the exhaust needs replacement I will get a dual stainless catback system, but we like the quiet exhaust at the moment. We are too old for modded cars, even though in my younger days I was a motor mechanic and engine re conditioner.
I got this particular model because the 07 onward have the factory nav system/radio/computer indash which is all Japanese and hard to replace, and this has had the Bose audio replaced already with a double DIN unit - which if needs replacing will be easy.
I like the aluminum trim, instead of that awful silver plastic on earlier models.
I love Men at Work, they were a great Aussie band in their day.

It's complete ricer status imo. It's just trying to be something it's really not. You can call it a "poser" move. Would you throw toyota badges on any lexus?
