Finally got the Dream Daily!

Hi all!

Out here in Southern Oregon and got my 04 G35 6MT a couple weeks ago. Ill be posting some pictures in a bit. Found it on a little old lot and its clean as a whistle save for a very weird half-matte black/half stock gloss black paint job.

Rode around the DSM scene for a LONG time and decided to finally get two more cylinders. Cant wait to get involved with the community!

Awesome, any plans for the car other than the paint?

I mostly just want this car for a fun sleeper daily. Nothing too intense. The only thing done to it that I am not sure is stock is Brembo brakes and rotors. Plus a crap JVC deck. The engine bay still has all the components in it like it just came off a lot.

Id like to get a tune on it and an intake/exhaust. Don't want to boost it any time soon, but my inner DSM driver wants to boost everything.

It's probably factory brembo's, I think they were standard equipment on 6MT equipped '03-'04.

Good to know. I was terrified I'd have to do some witch hunt to get the right replacement rotors and pads.

Forgot to menion the odd electrical issues as well:

-Driver window goes down an inch or two when the door is opened, wont roll back up.
-Driver window will randomly make me do a dance with it to stay up. Rolls down halfway after automatically rolling up when i pull the up button. Rinse and repeat about four to five times before it stays up
-Driver seat goes off the track when its moved all the way back.
-Seat warmers dont seem to work. Driver warmer button doesn't light up either.
- Key fob battery is dead, if it even works at all.
- Electric locks dont work. Only locks manually.

Window motor needs to be recalibrated, if that doesn't work then replaced. It has a memory function for the auto up/down that gets out of calibration as other components wear.

Driver seat track stop is probably missing (I think these have track stops?? Never actually looked). If there is no track stop then it's usually got a long threaded bar with a couple of large plastic "nuts" that can be moved around to determine when a set of limit switches is depressed which will halt forward/reverse motion.

Seat warmer switch may have failed but there is a fuse in the IPDM (engine bay fuse box) number 38 which is a 10 amp fuse that may have blown, also check Fuse Block - J/B (cabin fuse box) for fuse 12 which is a 10 amp fuse. There is also an internal relay in the IPDM which cannot easily be replaced (soldered connection) so hopefully it's one of those two items. My guess is the switch itself has failed, it's in a crappy spot and not well protected so if someone spilled a Big Gulp on it there goes the heated seats...

Key fob may simply need to be reprogrammed to the car.

If your door lock switch WILL NOT FUNCTION you may have a bad switch, broken wires inside the flexible conduit section that connects the door to the chassis (semi-common issue), or you may have a bad BCM.

There's also one more relay for the heated seats underneath the steering wheel trim which was my problem. Both switch backlights worked, but no lights turned on when they were actually used.

Window and door lock issues come with the G35, but other than that sounds like you got one of the good ones! Congrats, it's a hell of a sporty daily even 15 years later especially with the Brembos.

Finally got the girlfriend to take some pictures of the car. Ill get some more of the engine bay and the like later on.

I want to get the weird two-tone black redone. People keep telling me to just wrap it, but I want to get it painted.

Need to fix the scuffs on the rims or replace them. THey are branded with Infiniti emblems so they're probably stock.

Looks like plastidip on the wheels, you can probably just spray another couple coats over the damaged area and it'll good good enough for awhile. Has it been maintained?

The Carfax showed dealer maintenance and it looks/performs as if it had been properly maintained. No CEL, oil drips odd noises or worn belts. Only issue I CAN hear/feel is it needs a new clutch or throw-out bearing. There's some odd noises when i engage/disengage the clutch when its cold.

That will also get rid of that awful pinstripe. I support you on this!

Pinstripes are the worst.... I am inclined a particular archetype of person owned this car before I did, and i feel sorry for it having to go through that....

First is first, mechanical fixes.
