2006 G35 RWD Coupe only reverse works

I am looking to buy a 2006 G35 RWD with 115,000 miles on it for 2K. Beautiful car and the engine runs smoothly. However the car only moves in reverse. Drive does not including lower gears. This is all the information that I know. I do not know the condition of the tranny fluid or any codes. I am wondering if anyone has any insight or should i find a rebuilt or low miles used one and switch it out?

Ugh

I was afraid of that. I’m thinking about just taking it to the shop and let them look at the transmission because it could be something simple. The guy has the car does not know much about trainees and hasn’t even pulled any codes or anything. What is your opinion? I just got a quote today for $2000 to switch it out for a used junkyard tranny with 140,000 miles but I don’t like that.

Make sure u have enough transmission fluid in there.

Besides that, the problem could be anything in the transmission. All we can do is guess.

Pretty symptomatic of a blown transmission but you should check the fluid level, might just be really low.
