New LA-area coupe owner.
Well, fairly new anyway. I bought it on September 21 and picked it up the next day. Ironically, the day I came in they sold the last 6mt on the lot, so they had to have one driven in from Tustin. So I ended up with a car with 81 miles on it. Not so bad, though.
It's graphite/graphite, premium package. I wanted the sunroof but not the premium package because I figured I would replace the stock audio pretty quickly. After listening to the Bose system, I haven't changed my mind, but I couldn't find any 6mts around here without the full premium package. I didn't get the nav either; if I want nav I can either get an aftermarket unit like the Eclipse or just use a handheld that I can take with me on hikes through places like Yosemite and Yellowstone.
Which brings me to the reason I bought this car. I had driven a 240SX for a bunch of years, bought one new in '91. I loved that car, one of the most fun cars I've ever driven. Then at the end of '02 my wife and I were headed to San Francisco when a woman in a Celica swerved into us. The insurance company, of course, totalled it. I wept, metaphorically. Then I found a replacement, a '93 240SX with only 78k on it. Cobwebs on the undercarriage.
It needed some work, but I got it in shape and promptly put almost another 30k on it. Then, this past August, we went to Yellowstone. It was night, black as pitch, some idiot in a van with his brights and no hazard lights stopped in the oncoming lane next to a bison. Which I saw about five feet before I hit it at something less than 35mph.
A fullgrown male bison can easily weigh more than 2000 lbs and can be as much as 2600 lbs. Empty weight of a Nissan 240SX is 2600 lbs. The damned bison weighed almost as much as my car!
The bison survived. The car died. Again, the insurance company totalled my 240SX. I came all too close to buying the farm myself, as the bison bounced off the windshield right in front of me. If I had been going any faster...
So I got the message. I still wanted the rear wheel drive and four seats, but I wasn't going to compromise on the fun. At the advice of a coworker I checked out both the RX-8 and the G35 coupe. While I like the look of the RX-8 more, the G35 is by far the better car.
Of course, in the last month I've managed to scuff the bumper in the tight driveway next to a cinderblock wall and then yesterday hit a pothole near the airport that marred the sh*t out of the left front wheel. (I nearly missed it, so it just screwed up part of the outside of the rim and the tire didn't go flat, but, argh!
) So right away I get to pay for body work. At least I had the foresight to pick up the tire/wheel coverage, so I'm going to try to get them to fix the wheel. Fingers crossed. The guy at the body shop, though, had a serious case of car envy, he complimented me on my "nice ride" about three times.
Anyway, that's my story. As for the car itself, I've already put the JDM clear corners on (about the most trivial mod I've ever heard of) and will definitely install the DD kit and a new audio system. I'll also probably do the 350Z air intake replacement, another pretty trivial mod, although I don't know how that might affect the warranty. Other than that, well, we'll see...

... but I don't care, I'm going to post some pix anyway. I took these today, after I got the bumper scuff repaired. You don't get to see that.
So far it's fully stock except for the mats and clear corners. (I picked up the same mats I had in my 240SX for this car, from JC Whitney. They're thick and comfy.) I'll be doing the double-din conversion and putting on the Z tube when I get 'round to it.
Anyway, pictures! The third one, by the way, has where the bumper was scuffed. In the second you can see a bit of the wall that did the dirty deed.
