sup guys, i got my coupe about 2 weeks ago and im really happy with it and it is a lot faster than my old eclipse gs(140horses)lol! kinda of a big upgrade..anyway i was driving around and came across an e46 m3 n decided to to fly by him..knowing wat his reaction would be,,he got right on my behind and allthough i didnt really push the car he seemed a lot faster than me..to make a long story short, i kno these things have been discussed previously and m3's are considerably quicker, but what would it take to keep up with them without going turbo or sc? thanks in advance (newbie here..im sure u can tell)

 

basic bolt ons... you got 5AT or 6MT ?

I traded me M3 in on my G.

I ran 13.3 all day long in my M3.

You won't even touch an M3 even with bolt ons.

 

thanks man, yea i got an 05 and its AT, 12K miles on it for 30K with everything in it but the navigation.

 

how you like the G over the M3?

 

im not saying you can smoke a M3 with bolt ons... but a 6MT with bolt ons is def worthy enough to keep up with a M3

 

i've read lots of forums on the difference between the AT and 6mt 0-60 times and the diference isnt much maybe .1-.2 faster with the 6mt? so are u saying that bolt on's wont respond as well to the AT's

 

well even though those times not might be off by much.. the AT tranny robs you of a lot more power than if you had 6MT... 6MT also allows to launch so if you racing a M3 from a dig.. you will hook up better

Heres a perfect example of an m3 vs g35 coupe. Notice how the G is faster at turns but the m3 is a little bit faster at straight. The m3 is lighter and has more hp so thats why the g35 cant keep up with it in straight roads (stock vs stock).

PS... is this video the g35 had 18 less hp than the current 06 6mt.

 

basic bolt on's meaning... intake, upper and lower plenum, plenum spacer, headers, test pipes/ HFC, exhaust and i think im missing something.. but anyways ya with all those the money is gonna add up REAL quick

 

wow thats a lot, maybe it's best to go with sc afterall maybe stage 1, anyway it stil a beautiful car, and can hold its own, thanks for the replies people!

black on black i got an 06 g35C 5AT black on black too well let me tell you ive raced 2 of my friends m3s and you wont touch them. with basic bolt ons ill tell you how i do. this weekend im getting my car chipped and getting a INJEN CAI or a Z-Tube/JWT POP-CHARGER combo. if you really wanna get close dont play with them from a dig or brake torque and you should get a little jump. your best bet to getting closer to the m3 in the order of what you should get first 1.intake 2.chip (IMO) 3.spacers 3. test pipes
