Question for NY owners..

Hello fellow members,

There is a high probability that I will be relocating to western NY (Buffalo area) at the end of January due to my job. I am moving from southern California. About how much does the yearly car tax run in New York? I have a 2003 coupe.

Thanks in advance.

What tax are you talking about? I hope you have snow tires for Buffalo

Sorry I wasn't very clear. I am talking about the DMV licensing tax.

As for tires, I will be storing the car during winters and using my SUV.

There is no licensing tax - there is a registration fee of approx $50. You will need NY insurance ID card to register in NY. if you need that I can help you. blitzjb@aol.com

Re: Question for NY owners..

dholly,
I actually got laid off from my last job at the end of October. The ********* lay me off weeks before Thanksgiving and Christmas. That company has been in the toilet with falling profits. I work in the design field (Industrial Designer).

Yeah, it is going to be a big move (if i get the job). The good sign is that they are flying me out all expenses paid for an interview tomorrow. I will be in Buffalo (actually East Aurora) till Friday to look around.

In any case, I am looking forward to it since I will finally be able to buy my first house. Ever check real estate prices here in Southern Cal? It's ridiculous!

Jeez, that does stink. On the other hand, I'm a firm believer that change rejuvenates and brings new opportunity. Best of luck with your interview. If ya make it, give a holler. I'll buy a welcome round!
