Thumbs down Inspection failed due to worn brake pads

My '05X just failed inspection because apparently all of my brake pads are worn down. He said my rear brake pads are pretty much non-existent. The car only has 25K miles on it. I've read that the 05X's have brake issues...so what do you guys recommend? Is this something that is covered under warranty? I just paid Kings Infiniti a few months ago $260 to resurface the rotors. Do I take the issue to the dealer or should I spend some money and get aftermarket brake stuff? Thanks!

you dont have to get the hawks...but you should be good getting anything ceremic. go to your local/trusted auto store and ask for a set. should be 40-50 bux

Infiniti failed me for inspection due to my brakes being "worn" beyond passing (below 2/32nds). I only had about 15k miles on the car and I told the service agent that its impossible for my pads to be worn below 2/32nds and he guaranteed me that they were. I told them not to do anything to my car and that I'm going to have my car looked at by an independent shop. I already had hawk pads in my trunk and I brought my car to my gf's dad (toyota mechanic) and he measured all my pads. they were all 4/32nds or more! Total BS! I replaced my pads with the hawks and brought my car back to the dealer for inspection. I gave him the old pads that were "failing" and asked him why was I failed? They gave some BS answer and refunded me for inspection.

Never trust those dealers man, they probably didn't even bother to take off my pads to measure them. This happened at Infiniti of Willow Grove (sells Infiniti and Audi) BTW located in Pennsylvania. They are shady beyond belief. I now take my car to a local German Auto repair shop and they do a very nice job. Also met an Audi owner there that bought his car at Infiniti of WG and they pulled the same $hit on him!

Horrible horrible place to take your car for service, but they give you great deals on their cars
