LA to NY
I am against the trip although I am planning one something similar if you are going alone. That will be tiring and boring.
Make sure to bring the navigation, and couple gallons of fuel just in case.
AAA might be a good idea too.

Make sure you bring a spare and a few cans of fix a flat, a good jack and some motor oil.. and some basic tools.
I did a trek up to Toronto from Boston in my G.. I was a bit sketched because I had no spare, and I am turbo'd.. So it burnt a crapload of oil the way up!
My back seat was packed with tools/2x4's and everything just incase something went wrong.
That might sound like a fun trip! Plan the mileage vs flying accordingly since I was paying more to drive up there than to actually fly. But it kicked *** to have a car I could drive up there instead of taking the public transportation.
If you're f/i make sure you take into account the different octanes that each state has to offer.
I say go for it. It should be fun!@#!
edit-- also take into account the fact that you will need to park in the city (if you are going to nyc)... it can cost a little bit more.. 20 bucks a night?

Hit up Russ aka Meatshackle on the Hawaii forum. He did it with his fam from Fla to Cali enroute to Hawaii. This was a few years ago I believe.
If you are not too lazy hit the archives. He did post up during his trip to the west coast. Search is your friend.... lol

Steve I have driven home to NY from here, long trip some areas are boring, all in all good time. My G has been to Texas 4x and seattle once. I had the clear bra and had no problems......Watch out in Ohio and a few other states for the horse drawn carriages I encountered a few in fog..

Took me 4 days..Was by myself... Last trip It took me 18 hrs to get to seattle from LA and that was longest I ever drove straight..will never drive that long again. Steve plan it as a trip plenty of sites to see along the way.
you should tape the 5h!t out of your front bumper/hood/side mirrors because you are gonna go through bugs splatting all of the front and rocks chipping the paint. i drive an BO G from hayward, ca to las vegas, nv. i regret not covering up the front. what more with a 3-4 days on the road.
I'm currently in the midst of a Great American Road Trip, so to speak - I'll post more on it tonight, but it's highly recommended. However, you'll miss most of the sights along the way due to seasonal congestion in places like Grand Teton and Yellowstone as people get off from school, etc.
It's an '07 G35x and it has handled beautifully, *knock on wood*. I should probably find it an oil change in the next two or three days, however, and that's something to keep in mind. Also, if you don't have a clearbra, get one - it's critical. You will not escape the trip unscathed! Got a nice dime-sized impact crater on my windshield coming out of Seattle, but I wouldn't have done it any other way the second time around.
However, I will be posting a thoughts and comments bit after the trip regarding some quirks and problems with the car that I believe Infiniti needs to address for future models and current owners (this is completely separate from your topic, just something I'd point out for new owners is that you will hit the limits of the car).
Also, if you don't have one, pick up a Valentine One detector - it has so far, once again *knock on wood*, from numerous tickets along the way.
