Cool, thanx admin.

Recently got a spding ticket in Vermont, the old fat cop radar and gave me $141 citation for spding 65/55 + seat belt (ran out of seat belt for 1 person). I know that 2pts effects for Vermont, but I'm living in Massachusetts. Does anyone know the ticket gonna effects my driving step in Mass (which will ofcourse effects my insurance)? If not I'll just paid up otherwise I'll fight since its only 1 1/2 hr away from my place.

Is Vermont a neighboring state for you? Sometimes you can get away with just paying the fine and not get any points if it is not a neighboring state. You might wanna double check though.

Yes it will. That new lady in the Mass DMV is not missing an inch of anything when it comes to your license. Did you appeal them?

^ lol

I got a speeding ticket in VT about 5 years ago, paid it, and it never showed up on my MA insurance. But maybe it's changed since then and the MA RMV checks that sort of thing.

It all has to do with jurisdiction of who is issuing the ticket. Neighboring state really has nothing to do with it.

Call the court of the issuing ticket they should be able to tell you. Some jurisdictions really just want the denero and don't mess with the state who issued the drivers license.

Good luck with this. Hope you don't get too burnt.

I live in NY and I got a few RI and CT tickets for speeding. When its out of state the ticket you get doesn't affect your driving step. You good don't worry about it.

I'm not sure that's entirely true. I depends state to state. RI and CT may not pass to NY, but I think NJ does.

Previously having a NJ liscense, I DO know for a fact that NY transfers to NJ, but get knocked down to 2 pts for speeding/moving viol.

I say go to a local DMV and ask them there and they should be able to clarify for you.

Like a previous poster stated, it's the courts and the jurisdiction not the DMV. If they are reciprocal it will show, if they are not reciprocal then it's just the money. The only way to be sure is to call the court where you would have to appear.

Cool..! thanx guys, I think I will call the court and see what happened. I know that Mass DMV getting harder now, maybe there's a promotion for those DMV ladies if they can get traffic tickets issued.

Yes! I called and ask the lady work for RMV in Vermont and she said that Vermont only interest in getting paid. Only report to Mass if the ticket is not paid on time and such.
