ST is no different than TT...In fact, ST has a even more sudden tq spike than TT so it could potentially be worse...whoever told you that is smoking crack...the tranny will hold just fine if you get a cooler and a new VB (both of which I did not do and abused my tranny when I had the Vortech)

spotted a widebody G35coupe some sort of silver ins revere yesterday
also met a dude with a 350z at the track wed who couldnt get tracktion with his vortec sc and didnt go under 15's needs alittle more pratice IMO because he should def be running better then 15's but of course he has 20's on it and thats a huge factor with radio tires.. o well nice car either way

traction is his issue not the 20's
