Where to take my G for service? Are Nissan dealerships 'legal'?
In the past, I've always changed all my own oil and done the vast majority of maintenance things myself. However, now that I own the G, and knowing about the oil consumption issue -- according to what I've read on here, if my G ever starts consuming oil and winds up needing the engine replacement TSB, I have to be able to prove that I've had all my oil changes and whatnot done by Infiniti.
If I'm wrong on any of that, PLEASE correct me!
Anyway .. to my question. I live in the Harrisburg, PA area -- and the closest Infiniti dealership is 50 miles away in Maryland! That's a loooooong way to drive for a lousy oil change. So considering that fact, is it 'legal' to bring my G to a Nissan dealership for oil changes -- since there's one of them right in Harrisburg? Or do I absolutely HAVE to take my G to an Infiniti dealership?
Thanks much!

Since Nissan Corporation is Infiniti's Parent company, I would see no problem....as long as you can document that your preforming your oil changes in accordance with the Infiniti service booklet they cannot turn you down on a claim....
For that matter, if you do all the oil changes yourself, all you need is your reciepts showing the date and oil and filter and they could not turn you down. As long as your using oil and filters that meets or exceeds the manufacturers specs you would still have ground to stand on.
I just started working for Nissan, and I had my oil changed there as well. $30 w/ my discount 8o)
