ok well since I am sure none of you guys have had your car painted flat black or painted at maaco I am sure that makes you knowlegible... I have painted my track car black there and a friend painted his for 350 flat black 2 or 3 years ago and it still looks good... So SINCE I HAVE SEEN IT DONE IT AND OWNED IT... ANYWAYS who in their right mind would pay 5000 to paint a car flat black... seriously.

As long as you prep the car right before hand it will come out great. This one here uses all PPG paints and the painter has had 22 years at the top paint shop in the state... He makes more at maaco and did a great job on my bumper, I gave him a large pizza and he took care of me.

Dont just spit things out till you unless you know. Obviously maaco isnt the best place but they can do a great paint job if you let them... The 350 job is no prep just scuff and spray. if you spend 3hrs at home preping it will come out great. LIKE I SAID The mustang hit a wall drifting and the paint didnt peel off.

(i take this all back... MY BAD EXPLAINED IN LATER POST)

If that's the case, wouldn't it be an easy scuff and spray type deal?

Where's Corey... he should know this stuff.
WOW I missed all this

There is more than one way to do this. Like most paint jobs you can do a base/clear set up, and you add a matting agent to the clear or just buy a flat clear. But now that ssoooo meany people love the flat black look most paint companys make a single layer flat black paint. The single is much cheaper because it tkaes less time to spray and the paint is cheaper allso.

It is done by either a single stage with a flatening agent($339) or by doing base clear with a flat clear ($899) Either way i would do the $339 as it looks the same as the other. I will be doing mine once my new front bumper comes in. BUT YOU BETTER HAVE SOME MODS TO PULL IT OFF!!! It will look bad on stock setup. My plan is to do semi white with gold headlight (already done) 3000k hid and gold rims(already done). And slammed(already done).
^LMAO Macco does it so cheap becaue they dont take the car a part and paint it and then put it back together. They just spray it the way you drop it off and wipe off the offer spray when there done. Thats fine if you drive a 15 year old s**t box, but not ok on a G35 imo. The Maacos paint looks ok but it will fall off, peal, crack, ect.

You must be talking about the "drifting mustang" all over portland? Yes it looks.......... some what ok when he drives by, but it looks realy bad up close imo. But you get what you pay for

I cant believe the sad state the G35 has come to now with ricers talking about doing a 300 dollar Macco paint job.

I am going to go cry for the future of the G35.

No you dont need to spend 5k on it but anything under 1k is not good lol. You want the shop to take off the bumpers, mouldings, handles, trim, mirrors, ect. Paint guns do not spray around corners so if you leave those things on then the paint will not stick in those places.

Good call. Like I said you dont need to spend 5k but 350 is not going to get it done right.

lol def I am a ricer...right...def a useful comment from the dude who knows nothing about me (ppgfreak is the one with carbon and colorchanging paint but his car looks decent I saw it last week driving by)... I was trying to give another perspective as the 5k paint job was just dumb for flat black.

I just plan on turning my car into a track car and dont think it makes since to have a nice paint job...I had a few beaters and my trucks bumpers painted here and them came out great... well I just had my front bumper repainted on my g35 by them and the old paint lifted and it came out like ****... So now I need to get a new bumper and have someone paint it Maybe ppgfreak will do it. I have seen his car around a few times but I am always driving my damn truck.

I decided not to flat my car. I had a friend claybar and clean it up and the paint is way nicer then I thought it was. ppgfreak was your car diamond graphite last summer and always around washington ave? If so your car was pretty similar to mine last summer and a friend of yours jumped into my car thinking it was you.

Classy Expensive toys need parts and work to the same quality not **** poor pep boys parts and Maaco paint jobs..

I drove silver auto, and a black 6sp last summer. Or the truck and the a sentra But the G your asking about is me friend Cris im guessing. I just put in some new lights for him and painted his tsw's black, cool guy. That macco is much better then most, I know Ashly the manager there.
