Progressive Insurance skyrocketed?

Mine went up 33% from 603 to 799. They stated their rate structure changed.

Anyone else?

6 mo. It went up 33%. I'm done with them. They claim they miscalculated and underestimated what it would cost to provide insurance to Mass residents when they started offering it in this state last year. Well, now it's costing you my business. I'd rather pay more then your new rate to a company that knows what they're doing. Furthermore, the state lists Progressive as the second most complained about insurance company and has one of the smallest market shares. Adios.

I had Liberty Mutual and they increased my rate by 300/yr on renewal (sept 1). I had no claim, no violation for the year with 99 rating
Needless to say, I switch to commerce and its 100 lower compare to last year.

It's not completely driving records and risk driving your pricing. There are many factors as to why insurance companies are letting customers have it with their premiums. Insurance companies as with banks have running out of funds to pay out any potential claims in conjunction with taking massive investing losses. That is the major part of how insurance make their money. They take the premiums customers pay and invest that money in various stock and bonds. This is the same problem the largest banks are facing now. In order to make up the profit and cash shortage they turn to increasing premiums and in the case of banks some of you may have noticed they might have changed your interest rate on your credit card depending on which one you have.

It's simply a matter of money to cover losses and cash shortages but that will never really be revealed to the customer. The only way you can verify this for major insurance companies is to go through their quarterly reported finance reports. All you can do is shop around.

Commerce FTMFGDW...low rate, good coverage, and they don't harass you when you have a claim..state your case and money is paid. They've had my back several times when it was clearly the other person's fault and they tried to blame it on me. I pay $1,600 for the Evo per year, but my record isn't all that great.

All the national insurance companies are garbage IMO except Amica.

I left Progressive the day I bought my G. Their insurance quote was rediculous even with their multi car discount. Got a qoute from Erie Insurance that was cheaper for both cars than Progressive was for just my 1992 Taurus SHO and I have more coverage. I'll never go back to Progressive.
