Newbie here. Got the G back in May, 04 DG coupe 5AT, been loving the ride since. I am from East Brunswick, but most of the time I am in queens 'cuz I go to school in Manhattan.
Quick question, the mechanic at Ray Catena today quoted me $1000ish on "broken muffler flange and might need center pipe replacement", basically he is suggesting to replace the muffler and the mid-pipe. Are there any reputable/honest shops that does exhaust work in central jersey? I just want to consult this situation with a credible mechanic before spending any money. your help is greatly appreciated!

 

there are plenty of people here who have their stock mufflers just sitting that im sure they would sell you cheap. its only 3 hanger and 2 bolts to remove. 1000 bucks is insane. even if it needs a mid pipe too. i could do that in my driveway in 2 hours for wayyyyyy less than that

 

I am thinking to get the Flowmaster 80 series muffler for the replacement. I also have a z-tube intake installed, any of you guys have this combo that would share your thoughts?

 

yea i did two exhausts this weekend and both were under two hours, i wouldnt just swap out mufflers with the flowmaster unless you plan on getting a tune afterwards. go with a nice name brand catback or just get another stock

damn! class on wed nights. i still have a few dings i need to take care of. oha btw, ask him if he is able to do dings/dents on a motorcycle gas tank for me

yeah? my girl loves all that stuff. im not really into it but i watched one of those ghost shows on pennhurst and it looks cool. underground maze and ****. ill have to dig out the mini recorder

erik what day u goin to pennhurst and ill ask about the gas tank.

 

pennhurst was supossed to be sat night but apparently plans have changed now. i think were going to a different haunted attraction this weekend and then pennhurst on nov 6th b/c its the next available day we can go. this new schedule sucks

 

yeah man...but it sounds like you're going to a haunted house set up...it's more fun when you do it on your own. i think you have to sneak in though because it's not open to public outside of halloween time.
