Looking for a messed up rim in NJ/NY area

My uncle works for a company that manufacturs metal products. On site they have a FULLY FUNCTIONAL powder coating shop. He and I both want to get our wheels done (He has a 300ZX TT). We are very nervous because the guys that work there are not used to doing wheels. We would be getting our wheels done for free.

What we are looking for is a rim that is beat up, unused, even a set of wheels that we want to powdercoat silver or gunmetal. There is a risk involved so we wanted to try it on a crappy wheel first.

I was wondering if anyone has a wheel or wheels laying around, unused, that they would want to give me for a test powdercoat. If you had a set of stock 18's or 17's and you got new wheels and you don't want your old ones I will take them. If you even want me to get them powdercoated for you and return them that's fine. Just be aware there MIGHT BE potential error involved. This is why we are running a test.

I am not willing to pay for one so if that's an idea anyone has please move on.

Any help would be AMAZING!!!

Thanks - Joey Avino

I'm worried that the wheels shape will be changed upon exiting the baking stage.

Thanks - Joey Avino

You want to look into electroplating. The powder coat is good for bathroom stalls, but probably wont hold up well on rims. Check out Hemmings Motor news for local electroplaters.

BLitz what are u talking about... powder coating is good for bathroom stalls!?!

Powder Coating is used ALL the time on Bike, and Cars, from wheels to engines. Powder Coat is VERY durable and will outlast a painted wheel any day of the week.

Suit yourself, but you gonna miss out on the extra 7.3 hp to the wheels. :P
