I'm not sure if they are clearcoated.. The place is in Wilmington.. They are paying for the two bad ones.. The other two I took to a place to see if they can get the fine scratches out.. They caused over $500 in damages to two of them..

anodizing is an electronic dye process performed on metals, usually aluminum. clear coat is just clear paint

yep. aluminum will corrode if it doesnt have a clear coat or isnt anodized or consistant cleaning, polishing and waxing. i have polished small aluminum bike parts and if i leave them sit for a few weeks, they begin to loose their shine and "polish" it comes right back with a good buffing. some guys clear over their polished parts but im not a fan of that b/c once the clear begins to chip and flake, it looks horrible and needs to be stripped and redone.

Dude...just hope that they anodize. I lot of wheel shops don't anodize because it is very expensive. Most wheel shops just sand-->polish-->clear.

Imo i would just clear them. I had to refinish my Volks because the anodized layer was deteriorating.

Ask them...

After I had my VS-XX's fixed...the anodization has been gone and I just repolish and reclear every year.

I just polish mine with mags aluminum powerball then coat it with wax. Just have to clean them every couple of weeks with water.
