Speeding ticket on FDR: Traffic lawyer refferal needed
Sucks, after only 2 month of owning the car. Got a ticket for allegedly going 63 in a 40. For those who are from NYC - southbound on FDR right before the entrance to the battery park tunnel (the one that connects FDR and West Side Hwy), a stationary black unmarked Crown Vic. Haven't gotten one since the summer of 2000 (I think) and am wondering what to do.
So the big question - is it worth getting a lawyer for a $140 6-point ticket or should I go to court by myself? If the answer is "yes" can someone recommend a good one. Thanks.

It's going to be hard unless you know someone.
My co-worker got pulled over during lunch coming back from Brooklyn, for speeding, changing lane with no signal, and it was on the bridge or right near the entrance.
He brought in 2 state troopers and his dad works for the city of Rode Island, so his lucky *** got off with no penalty. But it was going to be yea, $$$, plus 6 points.
Good luck fighting it off. let us know how it turns out

A brief update:
1. Props to MrBillMartin for recommending a very good lawyer, even though I ended up going with another guy recommended by a buddy of mine, because his office is in the city.
2. Went to 125th street on Fri. The cop showed up, the judge was allowing him to read off his notes. So the lawyer and I decided to push back the trial date and it's now set for August 23rd.
3. Spent a part of my tax rebate on V1. The sucker refuses to stick to the windshield, so I'm planning to mount it on the visor and use a remote display stuck on top of the stalk cover behind the steering wheel.

really your v1 isn't sticking that doesn't sound right. but the remote display is very cool. however u hook it up as long as u keep it on when on the highways and parkways you could drive the g the way it should be driven.
good luck in august.
