Long story short, 8 weeks ago, one of my cams stopped turning while I was cruising home from work on the pike. The car idles but barely and on only one bank. It's basically dead.
Brought it to my mechanic and it was over his head. Took it to Herb Chambers in Westboro and they told me it needs a new engine at the cost of $15,000 without even looking under the hood. Interference motor and a locked cam = go straight to new motor.
I went to Infiniti affairs and 8 weeks later, they have agreed to have one of their people look at it. He came out and asked how they can know it needs a motor if they haven't looked into it yet, so they are taking it apart as I type this.
They should know tomorrow what's wrong with it, if it can be fixed, and what it's gonna cost me.
Worst part, the car is out of warranty, but only by a few months.

I have a great story to tell once this is all over.
I'm keeping my mouth shut until this concludes and I'm hoping Infiniti and the dealership decide to stop playing games and assist.
If they drop the ball again, I'm talking.
All I'll say is that it's been 8 weeks to this day and today was the first day they touched my car with any tools. Since day one, it's been "your oil is dark so we want to replace the motor... $15K please"
It took a comment in my Facebook page and an angry email from a "friend" to the dealership before I got any real level of service.
Tomorrow, I get word on what's what... and my fingers are crossed.
I've been very quiet and very patient. I hope they help me here.
