There is a current thread about an owner in Northern Jersey that his G stolen. Now, I want to know how many here live in these areas and their experience with this problem. I'm contemplating whether to buy an '05 G or not!! I have a '98 BMW and live between Journal Square & St. Peter's College and haven't encountered any problems.....yet !
Any input is appreciated!

 

i STRONGLY SUGGEST you get a garage 1st.

 

if you don't have a garage, do you have a driveway with a lockable gate? I wouldn't worry too much about the car getting stolen. That is one in a 100,000 chance. I'd worry more about vandalism/break ins.

 

i do have a one car garage, BUT the door doesn't close (well, there is no door as a result of some fool backing into it, thats another story!) therefore it doesnt lock! at the same time, i live with others who i share the garage/driveway with which means while one car is in the garage, the other is on the driveway. sadly, i leave very early in the morning to commute for work and always the first one out the door so therefore i usually park on the driveway which isn't lockable either. unless, i pay $150 or so a month to park in a parking garage. yeah....im kinda in a crisis !!

 

I live on duncan avenue in one of the dead end streets. I rent a garage and luckily for me I hope the kids, owners and people in the block know me well. I keep my car in the garage and park my motorcycle (2003, R6) in front of my house. I have not had problems at all. I have not heard of anyone's car getting stolen. But I do keep my car out of mind and out of sight when not using it. I would recommending getting a garage. In your case, is there a way to keep the driveway clear so that you can come in and out of the garage?
