Dumb question. How do the tire pressure sensors connect with the car? Well it just recognize them from proximity or some kind of programming?

I know they are wireless I meant communicate with the car. I don't have any and my light is on but these rays have some in them. Will my light go off on it's own or fancy linking involved?
