Re: Wednesday Night at Englishtown Raceway!!!!!!!!

If G35Girlie is right then I have 2nd thoughts on going on Wed nights. I do not want to spend 5hrs waiting there just for 2 runs which will be over in < 1 min. There are plenty of strip malls as you make your way down Rt 9 towards Etown where you guys could meet up.

Re: Wednesday Night at Englishtown Raceway!!!!!!!!!!!!

My best time was 14.47 @94.54 mph, next best was 14.56 @98.26 mph. I ran faster in Automode, which apperas to be normal. I was expecting to be a bit faster considering my mods, shooting for 13.99I didnt remove anything from my car like the spare and jack, so that added a little time, But my car doesnt have all the extras, no sunroof, no bose stereo, etc. that shiot all adds weight, not much, but it adds up. My car weighed in at 3370lbs, somewhat lighter than 3500 which appears to be the norm for the Gs. It was my first time at the track, and it was a blast. I cant wait to do it again. When I got their, some punk tried telling me that I would run in the 15's because it was my first time. I had the opportunity to run his POS in the 3rd race and whooped his Ace. Felt great.

Hey Tfasano,

Your best time of 14.47 @ 94.54 mph was in auto mode(left in drive) is that correct? If you went 14.56 @ 98.26 mph in manual/auto mode than this had the potential of being a better run because of your
mph of 98.26 means you made more horsepower on this run.
At what rpm did you shift the trans.? If i remember correctly
the G coupe makes peak horsepower @ 6200 rpm which would be the ideal shifting point. anything more and you would lose power and anything less you would not use the G's full potential.
My point is, where you shift the G in manual/auto mode is crucial to making the most power.
I am basing this off of my experience with automatic mustang lx 5.0 that i use to race.

Thats correct, best time was in drive. Do you disagree with others that say that drive will produce a better time than in manumatic mode? Do you think peak hp is still at 6200 even after all the mods? exhaust, intake, pulleys, etc...

Re: Wednesday Night at Englishtown Raceway!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, i totally disagree. The proof is on your timeslips.
94 mph in drive and 98 mph in manumatic is a huge
difference. More horsepower was made on the 98 mph
run. My old mustang was the same way, it was at least
3 to 4 tenths of a second slower when i left it in drive.

Exhaust, intake, & pulley mods. won't change were peak
horsepower is made it will just increase peak hp. When you
start making internal engine mods., (i.e. camshafts) is when
you might change were peak hp is made.
I would experiment with shifting in different areas of the rpm
scale, but i wouldn't shift much higher than 6200 rpm.

Re: Wednesday Night at Englishtown Raceway!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank You,

So you think with a time of 14.4 in drive, I could potentialy break into 13's if I shift perfectly?

Re: Wednesday Night at Englishtown Raceway!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes. With a trap speed of 98 mph that is definitely enough
to get you to run 13.9. There are also other factors involved
other than shifting perfectly. Traction is very important also.
If your tires spin you lose time. How do you launch your car?
At idle? or do you power brake?
