New Jersey Legal Question

Is it illegal to have clear side markers with white lights in New Jersey? It's not a blinker so I'm not exactly sure.

From my experience driving around in Jersey, I've come to a conclusion: Most of the cops you encounter will pull you over for any little thing that they can. Could be just me though...

Thanks, I figured so. Any reccomendations as to orange bulbs then. I just don't think I can waste $40 on the tiny PIAA mirror orange wedge bulbs.

I have clears with bright blue/whitish LEDs and haven't had any problems so you should be fine.

The amber lense is a federal requirement... it must reflect amber under all conditions...

yeah.

If you're planning on clearing, go w/ Amber bulbs. Cops shouldn't give you to much trouble if you have Amber bulbs.

I've had clears since 2003 havent had any probs. They passed nj state inspection, so who knows maybe the guy didn't think to look at them.

They are technically illegal. However, the chance of you getting in trouble for having them is VERY slim. Unless you decide to put a really blue bulb in you are good to go.

Amber bulbs don't make anything any more legal, at all. The law states that the side markers must REFLECT amber, meaning when light is shined upon them in the dark, it is visable reflecting off the light.. same idea as reflectors on a bicycle for cars to see at night.. so the light emitted from them has nothing to do with the law's purpose..

As long as you don't stick a bright neon-blue LED in there, and keep it the same traditional light color, its ridiculously unlikely that any cops will pull you over for that, let alone even know what side markers are. Clear Corners drastically improve the aesthetics of the car for me atleast.. put em in.
