Anybody a member of SCCA?
Anybody a member of SCCA?
I realized I don't have the time (or the brakes) to do HPDE's, so I wanted to get into autox.
Any of you Bay Area guys participate in autox events? Is the SCCA the only organization that holds these events? I just want to get out there and rip on my car.

I used to do autox and for a beginner getting into motorsports I think it's a great way to start. It's cheaper, won't put as much stress on your car as a HPDE, relatively safer since speeds generally don't get higher than 60 mph, and events are held in wide open parking lots which means less chances of hitting something. The only downside to it is you only get about 10 - 15 mins max of actual seat time usually compared to 1-2 hours at a HPDE. But those 10-15 mins are still fun as hell. As far as I know SCCA is the only one with autox in norcal. Maybe I'll start getting back into autox since it is so much cheaper.
