I've been here on vacation for a few days now. Great city, great food.
My second time here, but not for 20 years. Forgot how steep some of those streets are!
BTW, just curious. I noticed many ppl ride fixed gear track bikes around on city streets. More than in any other city I've ever been in. Any reason why?
I would have thought that the lack of brakes and gears would be worse on the streets.

Maybe part of the single speed track bikes are so rampant is that it makes for simple tuning and slightly lighter weight (shorter chain, less cogs, no derailleur, etc.). I could be wrong... I mountain bike occasionally, so that would be my guess.

Tuning and light weight might be the reason. Can't believe that a good track bike would be less expensive than a mountain bike however. And it takes incredible leg muscles and technique to stop a track bike quickly with no brakes, and the gearing would be a killer up some of the hills.
I'm just using a transit pass right now, so parking isn't an issue. BTW, the transit drivers can get really 'snarky' (not yet with us however), and boy can they swear at ppl and cars!
They wouldn't get away with some of the language they use, at least in Canada (Are we just too polite a society?
)
Boris, I guess you like the microfiber towels? Have you used them all already? Maybe I should have brought some down. That way, I could have written off some of this trip for business!

The best place for duck and pork (with the crispy skin) is right off of Broadway near the tunnel, right at the edge of Chinatown... the best claypot is right down the street, closer to Sun Hong Kong.
