Deposit on 08 Coupe @ Elk Grove

Hi guys,

I've lurked here for the better part of a year, then reg'd and have now started posting. i've been in love with the Coupe for as long as i can remember, but have never been in a decent financial position to buy one until now, er soon...

my GF and i moved to Sac a bit over a year ago from Baton Rouge, LA for a job offer i received. love life here in Cali BTW! so i started making a financial plan and budget and will finally be debt free and in great shape to buy a Coupe around April/May, which leads to the thread title.

on the 2nd, i put 1K (refundable) down as a placeholder in line for the 08 Coupe. turns out i'm 4th or 5th in line! anyone here ahead of me?

anyway, Oscar O'Con, the Fleet and Internet Sales Director, said that they would be receiving one (1) coupe in April, then two (2) in May, then full launch in June. i had to give him my top three color choices which are based on the current coupe offerings... hopefully it will be more along the lines of the new sedan as my first choice is White on Black.

Sorry for the long post, just wanted to formally introduce myself to the NorCal folks and can't wait to get into the new Coupe and out of my 4-banger 99 Accord!!!

-John

Welcome to the board. Good deal on that deposit thing. April is sooner than I thought. So, it won't be long before we see the real deal in the flesh. I originally planned to get the 08 since decided to buy my 06 after the lease runs out in July. Now I don't know. I'm not impressed by the 07 sedan. It's nice but the interior isn't so great to make me forget my coupe. The exterior looks a lot like our coupe. So if the 08 coupe doesn't look a lot different than our coupe, why change? One reason is the inferior quality I'm seeing in the 06 paint and interior. My rubber seal around the glass leaks water. The deat squeaks. It's uncomfortable too. The plastic everywhere, the off-lined glove box door whre the light shines through. Just poor quality. I'm leaning back toward looking at that 08 or just get a 3rd Lexus. Don't flame me for saying this...I really do love my G...but I believe in getting my money's worth.

Thanks for the welcome guys! Sac's not so bad, just sucks that you have to go downtown to do anything.

Reggiek, i agree with you on the sedan, it's nice, but not different enough on the outside from the current coupe. from my test drives, i'll say that the fit and finish of the new sedan is worlds better than that of the current coupe. let's just hope they took that into consideration and fixed the bugs of the new sedan as well.

If you get a chance, just browse around the internet and check out prices for your G35. Believe it or not, Costco.com offers competitive prices for new cars under "Auto". I checked it out a few months ago and got a quote for a 07 Yukon XL. The local dealership told me that costco.com offers new vehicles at $300.00 above Dealer's invoice (Not MSRP).

Check it out just for the heck of it. Can't lose!

the 07 coupe is identical to the 06 coupe. pics of the concept are all over the forums, but if you go to nissannews.com and click on photos, you can see all of them in high res.
