Yup
(San Jo)

I didnt even notice it as an earthquake until I saw the thread. At the time I thought it was the guy that lives in the apartment above me. I was like "what the h*ll could he have done to cause that". The only other earthquake that I recall feeling lasted about 10s so it was a bit more pronounced, I didn't realize they could such a short duration.

<yea I'm new to cali>

Ya I felt it, first it was a jolt and then a few rolls. It was a 4.2 and the epicenter was 10.3 miles deep. Here is some info.

It sure felt larger than it was. The kids slept right through, the little turkeys.

The quake was almost directly under my home. Google maps shows the quake to be centered under Acalanes High School which is less than 1 mile from my home. It felt like I was going over a continuous series of speed bumps for about 5 seconds. My kids were excited to be experiencing their first earthquake. Amazingly, nothing fell over in my home and everything was intact. After it was over, the first thing I went to check was all of our fine china in our dining room...no problems there. Next thing I went to check was my new G35S in the garage...no problems. That was before I checked on my kids!

That quake was nothing compared to the one I experienced in Taiwan in 1999 when we were there for a wedding. I think it was about a 7.4 and lasted for 45 secs with several aftershocks. Lots of deaths in that one. My kids were babies then and they just slept throught the whole thing!
