What is . . .
One or some of your fondest childhood memories?
I hold very dear to me the summers spent with my maternal grandfather, during my elementary school years. He taught me sooo much. Always encouraging me to set a good example for my younger siblings.
He passed when I was a 17 years old. To this day, at times, I still consider what he might think or say before I act on something. He will always remain my unseen counsel.
Here's to you, Grandfather . . . Cheers! . . . I still remember.

My dad and his old Chevy.
We went camping one time when I was like 10 or so and he let me steer through the campgrounds while he worked the pedals. It was nothing dangerous cause we never went over like 5mph, but in my mind I was driving.
I couldn't wait to drive that car for real. It was a shame he got rid of it before I got my learners permit. He use to mod it back in the day; It was a muscle car. Great memories.

Camping up North with the family (family, cousins...) at Humbolt County (Avenue of the Giants). We use to go evey year. There was so much lush green forest back then (before alot of droughts). Hikes, swimming in th Eel river. Camp fires...banana slugs! haha
Been a few times once I grew up and will be starting the yearly trips again starting next summer now that my youngest will be old enough to enjoy it.
This is a great thread Andy. It brought a big smile to my face remembering those fun times. Thanks

One of my favorite Uncle was a race car driver when he was alive. Two summers in a row, he picked me up along with his kids (my cousins) and took us to the tracks almost everday. We'd watch him from the stands and eat all the candy that we want and drink sodas all day... which we weren't allowed to otherwise. After practice, he'd take each of us in his car and let us drive around the track. I must've been around 11 or 12 at the time. I remember him telling me to "give some gas" as we went around the turns. It was one of my fondest memories from childhood.
Thanks for bringing me back there, even for a minute Andy.
