hello everyone..I'm from SoCal, los angeles area, and I'm moving up to NorCal
in January 2008 for school..
I was just up there last weekend for orientation and I really loved what I saw,
things were quite different from down here, but still it was nice to be up there
anyways, I'll be attending Univ. California, Berkeley starting 08 January and I really
need to find a place to live...so I was really hoping to see if anybody can
help me out..
this is what I want..and I know I probably won't get all these..=/
-Studio or one room
-designated in-door or at least covered parking spot for my car
-close to school, but I'm willing to drive 15~20 min. to school
-nice and quite neighborhood
-price:800~1000 but the lower the better!!!!!!!!!!!
and walk-in closet, bathtub, AC, laundry, etc..are some additionals that will
be nice to have..
I'm planning on moving in in early Dec..but time doesn't really matter
as long as I can find a nice place!
thanks for taking your time to read this, and thanks again for helping me out!
I'm really looking forward to go up there and meet up with everyone!

These will be hard to grab all together.... let alone the price...Originally Posted by SeOuLG35

You're asking for quite a bit for so little. No AC and no walk-in closet, one bedroom and one bath will cost you $1500/month in the outer Mission.

Yeah, home prices have dropped but rent hasn't really taken a big hit. You should consider find some roomates or possibly rent a room out of someones house.
Good luck

landlords push rents up when home prices soften, especially when there's a big ownership premium. if you find a place with those rents, jump on it quick and try to lock in the rate long term.Originally Posted by G35papa

for 800-1000 you can find a decent studio or 1 bedroom in the Lake Merritt area of Oakland. All of Oakland is not a huge ghetto.
