A medical doctor can write a note that will allow you to keep or get a tint on your windows. For instance, a dermatologist may write one because of easy sun burn, or a history of skin cancer in the family. Other people get them from their optometrist. You just keep the note in your car and you're clear. This info came from the actual legal documents about tint in CA, not rumor.
