Hmm. It should have worked. Are you sure you are turning the ignition to the off position before the airbag light comes on (after the initial on)? As soon as the light goes away when you turn it on, turn it to the off position immediately or the procedure won't clear the light.

Or yeah, use black tape

As far as I know, if you disconnect any of the airbag (yellow) plus and your battery isn't disconnected, that'll happen. Kinda a good thing since it's less risk of accidently popping open an airbag.. Make sure your plugs where you were working are well seated and that you didn't possibly force anything in that may have pulled the harness or wires apart first. An engine reset should take care of it, and if you need to hook up an obd-scanner, I have one (elmscan 5) you could use if your around SF anytime. If that doesn't do it....It may need to be reset by the dealer using the Consult device.

When you forced it in, you may have just snagged something loose on the plug.

I believe they're all yellow harness plugs. Make sure you have the battery disconnected before you start playing around with those, airbags are no joke and can jack you up real bad or even kill you! Click on the link for motivation to unplug your battery this time around...... http://ie.youtube.com/watch?v=HhBa8Xya3UA

I learned from caskyline. Yellow plug means caution. If you have to disconnect it disconnect battery first.
