NUDE RAIN DANCE - Susi Hamilton (Renmark, South Australia)

When you think of secret womens' business … you might think about hens' nights and the rites surrounding giving birth! But what about 400 women dancing nude to bring on the rain? The ABC's Susi Hamilton took part in the rain dance at Ouyen in the Victorian Mallee over the weekend.
Parts of the ceremony must remain a secret. Cameras and other recording equipment were off limits, but it did involve chanting, drums, dancing, face painting and flags fluttering in the wind.
Although it was only the women involved in the ceremony - the whole town was supporting them.
Over 2000 people turned up for the family fun day, and the blokes didn't even seem to mind that their wives and partners were taking part.
Even those who didn't get their gear off snapped up the bright pink sarongs and hats which the women wore initially for a bit of modesty.
