It would be good to get some feedback from owners in different areas. It seems like something cops can be picky about and pull you over but how many have actually gotten tickets for this. I was thinking about getting mine painted in the next month and still dont really sweat getting pulled over for it. The lights are still red and the reverse are still white. Both are very visible even with the tints on. Those cops who pull people over for just rear overlays or tints need to find something better to do.

Are they referring to the lens or the light? Technically, the tailamps are still red in color when the brakes are applied and are very visible from all distances well within 1000 feet. They did not mention "tail lens." I would argue that in court...

$10 > someone running into you because they couldn't see your lights.

I'm pretty sure that tinting or smoking your tail lamps is similar to tinting your front windows. Even though you might still be able to see the person through illegally tinted windows, doesn't make it legal (ie even though you can see the red LEDs through the smoke/tint, doesn't make it legal). I've heard (never looked up the code) that you can't really have anything over the brakelights or tail lamps on a car. This was the reason I got Bat's GTR style overlays (the ones with the cutouts). That way I could at least ride the fine line and say that while most of my outer lens is tinted, the actual brake light and tail lamp is not.

if he asked you to pop the hood... well, you got off very easy. ;)

That is being taken care of as we speak ;)

I think it mean the actual lens and even though yes you can see the lights when braking it is a matter of interpretation of the code which I am def. not going to argue over.

believe me, that would NEVER happen, unless of course the were looking for your taillights on the ground or in the sky haha

DEMoLITIoN 08-21-2008 12:54 AM

This happened to me at least twice a month until i took them off. 3M reflectors your your taillight. any city cop will sign you off. That is what they are primarily bitching about.

chlchaji 08-21-2008 01:10 AM
