Got pulled over today.

Well it was bound to happen sometime, going through Sonoma town at the speed limit and I see a motorbike cop looking at me, next thing I know he starts to follow me and then pulls me over, he said it was illegal to have overlays on my back lights and asked me to remove them.

I thought they were legal as long as you could see the red lights when you brake but he said no and I was like ok, I got a fix it ticket which is a $10 fine and was told to enjoy the rest of my day.

Oh well they had to pick on me for something I suppose.

Gitsum 08-20-2008 02:22 PM

interesting ....I know here they harp on it a bit but as long as you can clearly see the lights when brakes are applied etc. its all good

Kris79 08-20-2008 02:34 PM

I would like to know what the codes say for this. There are many vehicles with overlays and paint tint on rear lights. As long as it is not black paint, any of the red lights will show through, even at the darkest tint. The G LEDs are bright.

You got very lucky Paul in many other respects.
Maybe Bats GTR style smokes would be more legal with the red circles showing through, but wouldn't look as good as all smoked.
Thought the same as gitsum said above. See completeley smoked tails on many other vehicles on the road other than our G's.

Yep Kris that's all :) he did ask what that "thingy" was on my license plate, I was like you mean the backup camara :icon17: I said I always put safety first ;)

I will pull the code in a few, I just left it in the car.

ShanesG 08-20-2008 04:09 PM

Paul... as soon as I read the title and saw that you created the thread, I said to myself, "oh no". Luckily they didn't get you for your power adders.

I flirted with the idea of tinted taillights, however, I decided against it since it seems like one of those easy target mods.
