high amount of highway miles would be my guess. if this thread is still alive in two weeks when i travel down to school ill let you know how 2.5hrs of constant 70-75mph does even with the hills and fully loaded car.

Yeah the most I got was almost 28mpg, but that was 80% higway & 20% city. I drove on highway17 most of the time, so I think it is pretty good considering that its mainly breaking for those crazy turns and the hills.

^^ I just started using your don't accelerate fast after the stop, so I will see how that goes. Hope you don't mind me using your techique. At first it felt really weird. I felt like my car is being punished cuz I am always on it hard.

Seems like I fall in the average (15-18 City / 22-26 Hwy), although I use some "hypemiling" techniques like coasting up to red lights and cruise control @70 on the hwy.

I save gas cruising, so I can waste it around on-ramps.

I took a trip down to LA a few weeks ago doing 70-75 on Hwy 5 (so it was pretty flat). I used a full tank and calculated the fill-up amount (which is about 1-2MPG lower than the GPS mileage). I got 26.5MPG going down with 3 people (and luggage for the weekend).
